MODEL 18 SERVICE NOTES AND CHANGES
GOODYEAR 11.00 X 12 BRAKES
The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Inc., has informed us of an improvement change which has been made to the 11.00 x 12 brake discs, used on the Model 18.  Instead of machining 12 slots in these discs, they are now machining 24 slots and they believe that this will result in much better service life to the customer.
It has been evident that the disc slots sometimes become elongated and battered as a result of severe brake operation, resulting in premature disc replacement.  By increasing the number of slots in the discs, when one set of slots becomes worn the discs may be rotated to use another set of slots making it possible to obtain twice as much service from the brake discs.  The discs may also be turned over when one end of the slots becomes battered.
